Churchill Cup edges nearer

The proposed Churchill Cup to be contested between England, Canada and the USA has moved a step closer to fruition with a boost from the INternational Rugby Board.

The proposal for the tournament was supported by the IRB subject to conditions that -

* the IRB International Matches and Tours schedule matches would take precedence over the proposed triangular tournament
* that the alliance would require the involvement of the IRB in all developmental aspects of the project and that it would comply with the overall strategies of the IRB and the Regional Associations.
* that the alliance would be on a non exclusive basis
