Edmonds hails victory over Gloucester

Matchwinner Manny Edmonds claimed Perpignan's 31-23 victory over Gloucester was "the icing on the cake" which kept alive their dreams of a Heineken Cup quarter-final place.

The former Australia fly-half landed 21 points to subject Gloucester to their first European defeat of the season and keep the outcome of Pool Two uncertain.

He scored a try, kicked two conversions and four penalties to provide the backbone of his side's victory.

"We were pretty poor last weekend but still felt it was a step in the right direction," said Edmonds. "Today was the icing on the cake for us.

"Hopefully now we can play like this away from home because we know how difficult it is for away sides to come here.

"This puts the pressure on Munster and Gloucester but we were disappointed to give away points late at the end.

"We did well in the line-outs but this is such a tough pool you cannot afford to relax as Gloucester showed at the end.

"Nothing is easy but Gloucester are one of the best teams in the competition so to beat them was really good."
