McDonnell date set

All Black Joe McDonnell's hearing before the International Rugby Board on doping charges has been set for Saturday.

The prop tested positive for the restricted drug salbutamol following New Zealand's Test against Paris in 2002.

The drug - which is used in asthma medicines - is not banned by the IRB, but is restricted to players who regularly use inhalers and have notified the governing body.

McDonnell's test result is believed to have been as a result of his use of a teammate's inhaler, after he didn't take his own on the tour or inform the IRB of his need to use the drug.

Until the case is resolved, McDonnell has been suspended from all rugby.
