Reds name rookies

Josh Valentine and Gene Fairbanks will make their Super 12 debuts next week after they were named in the Queensland lineup for its series opener against the ACT Brumbies.

Valentine, who is a former Australian schoolboys captain, beat out Tim Atkinson and Ben Wakely for the halfback spot while Fairbanks was named in the centres.

Fairbanks replaces the injured Daniel Herbert.

Ben Tune and Nathan Sharpe were also named despite not having played any of the Reds' pre-season trials.
