Flatman completes Bath switch
May 23, 2003

Bath Rugby are delighted to announce that England International prop David Flatman has signed for the
club from Saracens.

Flatman, 22, a key member of Clive Woodward's England squad over recent seasons, has won eight caps since
making his test debut aged just 19 against South Africa in 2000. He sits on the bench for England in Saturday's match against the Barbarians.

Having recently returned from injury, David, who stands at 6' and weighs 18st 7lbs, ended the Zurich
Premiership campaign strongly for Saracens and is widely regarded as one of English rugby's brightest
front row prospects.

The prop, who joins fellow front row player Duncan Bell in making the switch to the Recreation Ground, will
join his new team mates for pre-season training in July. He says that he is looking forward to a fresh
challenge and an opportunity to develop his career with Bath Rugby.

"Bath Rugby was always the club that I wanted to join and I am delighted to be signing for them. I am really looking forward to be moving to club with great potential and competing for a place in the team."

Jack Rowell believes that David, who can play on both sides of the scrum, will be a great asset to the club.

"Strong scrummaging is as important a part of the game as ever. In addition, prop forwards need to be able to contribute around the field. David's strength, mobility and rugby skills should provide a good impact in the Bath Rugby game next season."

There are still tickets available for Sunday's Parker Pen Challenge Cup Final against London Wasps at the
Madejski Stadium (3.45pm). To book a ticket please call the Madejski Stadium ticket line on 0118 968 1000.

Meanwhile, Bath Rugby have signed four youngsters to the Academy - Simon Whatling, Chris Goodman, Kieron
Lewitt and Michael Baxter.
