Australian players will not boycott this year's World Cup despite a contract dispute between the Australian Rugby Union (ARU) and players representatives.

Wallabies captain George Gregan has confirmed the players have no intention of missing the tournament which begins in October and he was confident the impasse would be resolved soon.

"I can't imagine that (a boycott) happening. I think that it'll be resolved fairly quickly," he said.

Gregan also said he was sure the issue would not be a distraction in the Wallabies lead-up Tests.

"The Players Association represents the contracted players so anything RUPA does on behalf of the players they're aware of."

"It's being dealt with and it's going to be dealt with before the World Cup and we're happy with that."

"We're focusing on the game it's been around for a period of time now. It didn't distract us last week so it's not an excuse to have as a distraction."
