Vickerman walks out on ACT

Wallaby lock Dan Vickerman has quit the ACT Brumbies to move to rivals the NSW Waratahs.

Vickerman follows hot on the heels of team-mate Justin Harrison who has also switched to Sydney.

Harrison signed with NSW last week after being unable to dislodge Vickerman and fellow Australian lock David Giffin from the ACT starting side.

A former South African under 21 representative, Vickerman made his Super 12 debut two years ago, and the Brumbies saw the 24-year-old as a long-term investment.

ACT Rugby Union chief executive Rob Clarke said he was disappointed by the decision.

"The coaching staff, management and administration have spent many hours and considerable resources developing Vickerman's potential both on and off the field," Clarke said.

"In his rugby, study and residency, we've done everything we can to help him reach his goals and we've been delighted with his achievements.

"Two days ago we were close to a deal. Today we're not and that's disappointing."
