Pinkerton heads home
January 2, 2004

Stuart Pinkerton, the Sale Sharks flanker will be leaving the club and the game after next week's Heineken Cup match against Leinster in Dublin.

The 30-year-old flanker, stayed on to help out at the club during an injury crisis after the World Cup.

But now Pinkerton who has played 55 times for the Sharks is heading home.

His wife Micky and children Barney and twin daughters Ella and Josie are already back in Australia and Pinkerton is due to start a cabinet making course at the end of January.

He will make his last appearance in rugby union against Leinster.

"I'll be throwing the boots away and don't even plan to play social rugby," said Pinkerton to Sky Sports. "I have had a great time but there's more to life than rugby.

"I'm looking forward to starting the cabinet making course. I like working with wood and it's just something I fancy having a go at.

"I'll miss everyone at Sale and I'm glad I chose to come here when I decided to have a spell in Europe.

"The lads and coaches have been great along with the backroom team. So have the fans and I'll be looking to have a drink with them after the Leinster game."

Pinkerton has captained Sale in recent games and views as playing for New South Wales against the British Lions as one of the highlights of his career.
