Draw for Singapore Sevens announced
March 2, 2004

The IRB have announced the draw for the Singapore Sevens - the World Series Sevens event which will take place at the beginning of April.

New Zealand, who have won the even four times will face Argentina in Pool A, with the Pumas looking to spring another surprise after their win in the LA leg of the World Series.

England will lock horns with France, Japan and Hong Kong in pool B, while the the home team - The Singapore Reds - will face South Africa, who won the Dubai sevens, Samoa and Canada.

"The draw will certainly put our men to the test. South Africa is in top form and has a team of world-class players. Samoa physically is very tough and our defence must be able to withstand their pace and power. Canada is our target for this round. Our attacking and defensive patterns are not drastically different. If the team puts in a good performance, we do stand an even chance of beating them," said Singapore Reds Sevens Coach Marcus Blackburn,

In Pool D, fourth seed Fiji face Australia, Korea and the USA.

Singapore will be the sixth leg of the World Series this year and follows the Hong Kong event which takes places from 26-28th March.

Pool A: New Zealand, Argentina, Scotland, Malaysia
