March 28, 2004

England wrapped up the International Rugby Board Hong Kong Sevens title for the third successive year when they beat Argentina 22-12 in Sunday's final.

Tries from Simon Amor and Pete Richards plus a Ben Gollings conversion put England 12-5 ahead at half-time, with Richard Haughton extending the lead with his eighth try of the tournament in the second half.

Rob Thirlby added England's fourth try after Argentina had cut the deficit to 17-12.

"The final was fantastic," said England team manger John Elliott. "It's been a very hard day."

England move on to the Singapore Sevens next weekend, with the overall IRB Sevens Series title in their grasp.
