NZ Universities announce side for Japan game

Three Super 12 players have been included in the New Zealand Universities side to face Japan A in Christchurch on Saturday in the Japanese side's final match of a three-game tour of the country.

Conrad Smith of the Hurricanes, Scott Couch of the Chiefs and Campbell Johnstone of the Crusaders will turn out for NZ side.

The match acts as the curtain-raiser to the Crusaders' Super 12 match against the Stormers at Jade Stadium.

"We have a reciprocal arrangement with Japan. Last year we toured there and this year they've come out here for a three-match tour," said NZ Universities coach Bryce Bevan.

Meanwhile, Japan A has had mixed results on their tour so far. They lost 51-17 to Mid Canterbury but beat South Island Universities 62-25.
