Nine Wallabies in Barbarians line up
December 2, 2004
Bob Dwyer has announced his Barbarians' starting line up for Saturday's game against New Zealand - but has insisted that the bench players will have as big an influence on the game as those who start. "No inference will be drawn as to any differential between the starting line up and the bench," said Dwyer. "We anticipate that the impact of our bench players, will add to our performance against what is undoubtedly one of the strongest squads to tour Europe since the heyday of the All Blacks and Springboks a few decades ago." The starting line up includes nine of the Australian squad who have just completed their tour of Europe - with Chris Latham starting on the wing to accommodate Mast Rogers at full back. World player of the year Schalk Burger starts along side Phil Waugh and Xavier Rush in the back row - with his Springbok team-mate AJ Venter on the bench.
