Two newcomers for the Brumbies
February 22, 2005

The Brumbies have named two newcomers for the Super 12 opener against the Crusaders on Saturday night.

Adam Ashley-Cooper will make his debut on the left wing while Sam Norton-Knight was named as a reserve for the clash between last year's finalists.

After playing one game for the Queensland Reds two years ago, Gene Fairbanks will make his Brumbies' Super 12 debut after Wallabies star Matt Giteau was forced out with a hand injury.

Fairbanks will form a new inside back combination with Test five-eighth Stephen Larkham after the fly half made a successful return from a broken arm during the Brumbies' 33-26 win over the Hurricanes in Saturday's trial match.

ACT Brumbies team: Mark Gerrard, Clyde Rathbone, Stirling Mortlock (capt), Gene Fairbanks, Adam Ashley-Cooper, Stephen Larkham, George Gregan, Scott Fava, George Smith, Owen Finegan, Mark Chisholm, Radike Samo, Guy Shepherdson, Jeremy Paul, Nic Henderson.
