Kazakhstan prepare for World Cup qualifiers
May 19, 2005
Kazakhstan have named a very strong squad for their upcoming world cup qualifiers with India, Malaysia and Guam in June. The pack is exceptionally strong this season and are expected to provide a platform for the backline to finish chances. The squad is a young one, with several notable exceptions in both the forwards and backs as Kazakhstan look to introduce new players from their youth sides, and to add another dimension to their game. This is unlikely to weaken the side as the players in question have had some experience at Sevens and are also playing under national team coaches, Popov and Stalmakhovich at CSKA Almaty. All of Kazakhstan's players have been released by their foreign clubs (Russia, Kazakhstan and Ireland) for the games, giving head coach Popov the luxury of choosing his best squad.
Kazakhstan take on India (5th of June), Malaysia (7th of June), both in Mumbai, India and Guam (22nd of June) in Kazakhstan. |
