Berne to lead Waratahs Development Tour
September 19, 2005

Randwick skipper Shaun Berne will lead a 30-man squad on the Waratahs Development tour to Bahrain and Eastern Europe.

Head coach Ewen McKenzie says there will be a slight cross over with the Wallaby tour with players able to do both. "The final Wallaby touring squad won't be known for a few weeks but in consultation with the Australian coach we've been able to name this squad of 30," said McKenzie.

"We've had to check a number of injuries today and with that in mind and two weeks remaining in the Tooheys New Cup we thought it prudent to name a small shadow squad too.

"There's a good mix in the 30 at this stage with 10 clubs represented and we're looking forward to seeing how they perform against the national teams of Eastern Europe."

The squad will depart on Monday, 3 October; two days after the Tooheys New Cup Grand Final.
