Tongan handed one week ban
November 23, 2005

At a disciplinary hearing on Wednesday in Paris, Rodney Mahe, the Tongan open side flanker who was cited for striking an opponent in the match between France and Tonga in last weekend, was suspended for one week by a 6 Nations Disciplinary Committee.

Rodney Mahe pleaded guilty to the offence and after the committee considered in detail the video footage of the incident and representations on behalf of the player they decided that the offence warranted a low-end penalty.

The panel then considered all the off-field mitigating factors and determined that in the circumstances a one-week playing suspension was appropriate. Rodney Mahe is unable to play against France A in Montpellier this weekend but will be free to resume playing on Monday, 28 November.
