JP to make debut against Australia
September 6, 2006

Sharks utility back JP Pietersen will make his Test debut on Saturday when the Springboks face the Wallabies in the last encounter of the 2006 Tri-Nations series.

This emerged when coach Jake White named his side for the Ellis Park Test, giving him responsibility for the full-back position.

The Test will be the 60th encounter between South Africa and Australia. Of the previous 59, South Africa won 35, lost 23 and one drawn.

Os du Randt will be playing in his 75th match as prop for the Springboks (70 Tests and 5 tour games), thereby surpassing Hannes Marais' record of 74 matches. Os is currently the most capped prop in Test matches with 69 caps).

Breyton Paulse is currently the most capped wing in Tests with 59 Tests (he played fullback in 2 Test matches), but, should he make an appearance as a substitute on Saturday, he will equal Jannie Engelbrecht's record of 66 matches as a wing in all matches for the Springboks.
