Harlequins have agreed a one-year contract extension with Jim Evans that will keep the second row at the Twickenham Stoop until 2009.

Evans is the longest serving member of the Quins squad and has made over 100 appearances since joining the club in 1999.

The 26-year-old started two games in England Saxons' triumphant Churchill Cup campaign, which ended with a 17-13 victory over the New Zealand Maori in last Saturday Twickenham final.

Quins director of rugby Dean Richards said: ``You can never question Jim's commitment to Quins or the loyalty he has shown to the club.

``He was in tremendous form in the latter half of the season and I was very pleased that his efforts were rewarded with his Saxons call-up.

``He's a player who is getting better all the time and I'm delighted that we've secured his services for at least another two years.''
