Leeds Carneige's director of rugby Stuart Lancaster expects to have Stuart Hooper back for Sunday's Guinness Premiership match against Bristol.

Hooper has been suffering from a calf injury that kept him out of Leeds's loss to Leicester last weekend, but the news is not so good for young prop Michael Cusack.

Cusack has been ruled out for the rest of the season after having surgery on a thumb injury.

Cusack, who has made nine appearances in the Guinness Premiership this season, suffered the injury to a tendon in his thumb a couple of weeks ago but having had an operation will now miss the remainder of the season.

Lancaster said: "We are all disappointed for Michael that he will miss the remainder of the season. We have had some great news in recent weeks with players coming back from injury but it is always a blow to lose a member of your squad at this time of the year.

"Stuart Hooper is making good progress and hopefully he will be back available for selection for this Sunday's game against Bristol at Headingley Carnegie along with Jon Dunbar, Rhys Oakley and Calum Clark," added Lancaster.
