Bath have signed Leicester scrum-half Scott Bemand on a two-year deal.

Bemand, 29, becomes the west country club's third significant capture for next season, with former Australia lock Justin Harrison and Leeds captain Stuart Hooper also bound for the Rec.

Bemand is currently out with a knee injury, ironically suffered playing against Bath for the Tigers earlier this season, but is on course to join in full pre-season training.

He said: ''I am delighted to join Bath. I met with (head coach) Steve Meehan a couple of times and was excited by the plans he has for the squad and the manner in which Bath have played this season.

''It has been a long haul getting back to fitness but I am on track. I still have a burning ambition to play at the top level and I will be giving it everything I can.

''I would also like to thank everyone at Leicester Tigers as I really enjoyed my time there and I am especially grateful for all their help in the last year while undergoing rehab.''

Bemand will compete for the number nine jersey with South African scrum-half Michael Claassens.

Meehan added: ''I want to see him bring that same speed, energy and competitiveness, that I have always seen, with him here to the Rec.''

Bemand, formerly with Harlequins. toured Australia with England in summer 2006.
