A rugby team selected from top heartland provincial players will head to the United States in November to play a couple of local sides.

The New Zealand Rugby Union (NZRU) said today the New Zealand Heartland 15 would play two matches -- against a Pacific Coast 15 and a USA Select 15.

The USA Select 15 match on November 8 will be played in Salt Lake City to open the city's new stadium.

The Pacific Coast 15 match on November 4 will be played in San Francisco.

NZRU general manager of professional rugby, Neil Sorensen, said the trip was a good opportunity for heartland players to represent their country as well as promoting the sport in the United States.
