Match report: Copy of Stormers heap woe on Reds

The Stormers secured back-to-back victories for the first time since February with a 37-24 victory over the Reds at Newlands.

Peter Grant gave the hosts the early lead with a penalty but that was soon cancelled out by the Reds' Clinton Schifcofske who edged the visitors into the lead with his second less than five minutes later.

The tit-for-tat exchange between the two continued with another penalty each before a yellow card for the Reds David To Moana, for pulling down a maul, proved a turning point in the game.

Within a minute Luke Watson had his first try and his second followed on the half hour with Grant adding the extras on both occasions.

Shifcofske reduced the arrears with another penalty but the Australians still found themselves well adrift at the break.

Speedster Brent Russell edged the Stormers further ahead with his first try of the game shortly after the re-start once again converted by Grant.

The Reds threatened to make a game of it with a try from Ben Tune just shy of the hour mark and Schifcofske's conversion brought them to within eight points but that was as close as they got.

Firstly Russell grabbed his second before Joe van Niekerk wrapped up the match as a contest with a try as the game entered the last quarter.

The Reds grabbed some consolation with a late score from Sean Hardman but it was too little too late for Eddie Jones' side.
