Match report: Copy of Brumbies stun Sharks

The ACT Brumbies ended the Sharks' unbeated run in this year's Super 14 with a comprehensive 21-10 victory at the Absa Stadium in Durban.

The Brumbies silenced the home crowd with the first try of the game after just two minutes when Julian Huxley caught the hosts cold.

The Brumbies' centre added the extras and then slotted a penalty a few minutes later to extend the vistors' advantage.

Adam Wallace-Harrison grabed the Brumbies' second try before the game was a half hour old after a spell of pressure had stretched the Sharks' defence.

Another penalty from Huxley before half-time saw the Brumbies go into the break 18-0 in the lead and the Sharks requiring a huge effort to preserve their unbeaten record.

A peanlty from Ruan Pienaar early in the second period offered the home fans some hope but they failed to capitalise.

Huxley restored the Brumbies' advantage just short of the hour mark and despite raising their game the Sharks could not break down an organised Brumbies defence until the closing moments when Adrian Jacobs dotted down before Butch James converted.

The result sees the South African side lose ground on the league-leading Blues while at the same time revives the Brumbies hopes of securing a semi-final berth.
