Head to head: France win piles pressure on to Ireland

These two sides have met on 82 previous occasions since their first clash at Lansdowne Road in 1909 with France triumphant 49 times, Ireland winning on 28 occasions and five matches drawn.

They have met twice before on the Rugby World Cup stage with France winning 36-12 at RWC'95 in Durban and 43-21 at RWC'03 in Melbourne - both victories coming at the quarter-final stage.

France's latest victory came in dramatic fashion during this year's Six Nations when a last-gasp try saw them triumph 20-17 at Croke Park in Dublin.

Ireland's last victory over Les Bleus came in the Six Nations in 2003 when they won 15-12 at Lansdowne Road.
