Head to head: England shock Wallabies to reach semi finals

These two sides have met on 34 previous occasions with Australia having won 20 matches, England 13 and one match drawn.

Their first clash came at Rectory Field in England in 1909 where the visitors were victorious 9-3 and their most recent meeting came in 2006 where Australia won both matches in a two-Test series by the scores 34-3 and 43-18 respectively.

They have also met four times previously on the World Cup stage, most memorably in 2003 when England edged out the tournament hosts 20-17 in the tournament finale.

They also clashed in the 1991 Rugby World Cup Final where Australia were victorious 12-6 at Twickenham.

England won 25-22 in the 1995 Rugby World Cup quarter-finals and Australia won 19-6 in the pool stages at the inaugural World Cup in 1987.
