Preview: Springboks see off spirited Fijians
October 7, 2007

Injured tighthead prop CJ Van der Linde will be given every chance to prove his fitness for Sunday's World Cup quarter-final against Fiji.

Van der Linde suffered a knee injury in training on Tuesday but has been named in the starting XV for the match, with a final decision to be made on Sunday morning.

As a result, head coach Jake White has named a 23-man squad with both Guthro Steenkamp and Jannie du Plessis included among the provisional replacements as
cover.

Du Plessis was called into the South Africa squad this week after BJ Botha was ruled out of the tournament with knee ligament damage, suffered in the final pool win over the USA.

White has opted to start with Danie Roussow at number eight with Wikus van Heerden, who played in the decisive win over England, on the bench.

Elsewhere, Seremaia Bai will start at fly-half for Fiji.

The Fijians were forced into a change after Nicky Little damaged knee ligaments in the famous Pool B victory over Wales last weekend.

Bai, who plies his trade for Clermont Auvergne, was preferred to the inexperienced Waisale Luveniyali and his switch from inside centre has prompted a backline reshuffle.

Norman Liguiri comes into the side to start at full-back with Saracens' Kameli Ratuvou moving into the centres.

Henry Qiodravu takes over as tight-head prop from Jone Railomo.
