Head to head: Argentina finish with a flourish
October 19, 2007
France and Argentina have met a total of 40 times since their first clash on 28th August 1949 when Les Bleus beat the Pumas 5-0. France hold the historical advantage having won 30 of their previous meetins while Argentina have won eight times with two draws. Since France's comprehensive 47-26 victory against Argentina at Lansdowne Road during RWC'99, it is the Pumas who have had the better of their meetings. A hat-trick of victories on home soil in 2002/03 were followed by an historic triumph at the Stade Velodrome in Marseille in 2004. More recently, Argentina stunned tournament hosts France 17-12 in the opening clash of Rugby World Cup 2007. |
