Gloucester have been warned they will be in breach of an International Rugby Board ruling if Gareth Cooper remains on the bench for today's Premiership game at Saracens.

Under IRB regulations, Wales have first call on their players during the official November international window. Cooper did not play against Canada on Friday night but has been training with the squad and is expected to involved against New Zealand next weekend.

A Wales statement said: "The Welsh Rugby Union can confirm that it has received confirmation from the International Rugby Board that the IRB regulation committee has ruled Wales scrum half Gareth Cooper should remain with the WRU this weekend and that the WRU need not release him back to his club Gloucester for today's club match against Saracens.

"The IRB confirmed that both the RFU and Gloucester have been informed of this ruling."

Cooper was included on the bench when Gloucester coach Dean Ryan named his squad on Friday. The match at Vicarage Road kicks off at 3pm.
