Brew completes Bristol switch

Bristol Rugby have announced the signing of Welsh international centre Nathan Brew.

Brew, who was recently released from Celtic League side the Scarlets, returns to the west country club where he made five appearances for the U21s and United sides in the 1999-2000 season.

He returned to his native Wales in 2001 with first Newport and then the Newport Gwent Dragons before switching to the Scarlets in 2007. Capable of playing wing or centre, Brew won his only Welsh cap making a try-scoring debut in the victory against Romania at the Racecourse Ground in Wrexham in 2003.

He was later selected for the Wales tour to Argentina in 2006 but did not play in either Test. The 26-year-old began his international career with the Welsh Senior Schools side, before moving on to the Under-19 and Under-21 sides. He has also been involved with the Welsh Sevens team.

Head Coach Richard Hill confirmed that Brew will be a welcome addition to his squad and that he was pleased to get the deal done. "I'm delighted to be able to confirm that Nathan has joined Bristol Rugby. He's linked up with us immediately and will provide us with some additional options in midfield."

Bristol Rugby also ackknowledged the ongoing support of the supporters group the BRIS Trust whose, "valued contribution has helped to make Nathan's signing possible."
