French international fullback Benjamin Thierry has made the switch from struggling Biarritz to their Top 14 rivals Montpellier.

Thiery, who has four caps for France after making his debut against Australia in June 2007, has signed a two-year deal with his new club. Having joined Biarritz from Bayonne in 2007, Thiery will now be looking to further his career with the ambitious Montpellier.

Thiery will not be eligible for any of his new club's European Challenge Cup ties after playing all four of Biarritz's Heineken Cup games this season. Montpellier are currently second in Pool Two behind Northampton Saints, but are unlikely to qualify for the quarter-finals as a runner-up.
