Guinness Premiership side Bristol have parted company with winger Anthony Elliott. Elliot had made 12 appearances for the West Country side since joining from Newcastle in the summer of 2007.

"The ongoing good form of David Lemi and emergence of Tom Arscott meant that Anthony's first team opportunities were limited in 2007-8 although he did represent England with distinction on the World Sevens Series circuit," said a club statement. "Opportunities have been similarly hard to come by this season with Anthony only making starts in two games - one in the European Challenge Cup and one in the EDF Energy Cup.

"Therefore, it was mutually agreed to end Anthony's contract early and allow him to leave the club as a free agent with a view to pursuing his career elsewhere."

Bristol also confirmed earlier on Monday that the club's General Manager Corin Palmer had left the club in what was described as "a significant cost reduction program".

"Given the current very difficult economic conditions, we are having to look at all areas of the business to reduce costs and we have therefore reluctantly had to part company with Corin," said Bristol CEO Steve Gorvett
