New Zealand clinched a record fourth successive South Africa 7s title with a 47-12 victory over France in the Port Elizabeth finale.

The All Blacks outscored their French rivals seven tries to two with the dominant Kurt Baker bagging a hat-trick and creating another score. The defending champions came from behind to beat hosts South Africa 12-5 in the semi-finals thanks to yet another impressive display from Tomasi Cama.

In the other semi-final, France snatched a dramatic 10-7 sudden death extra time victory over Argentina after Manoel Dall Igna had drawn the scores level at 7-7 in the final seconds of normal time. Gaston Revel hit the post with an attempted penalty drop goal for Los Pumas that allowed Terry Bouhraoua to steal it for France.

South Africa ended their campaign on a high, beating Argentina 35-0 to finish third thanks to an impressive hat-trick from Cheslin Kolbe.

In the quarter-finals, current Series leaders New Zealand beat reigning world champions Wales 35-5 thanks to a hat-trick from Baker. Argentina kicked a last-minute penalty drop goal to see off the Gold Coast Sevens champions Fiji 15-12. Tries from Ruwellyn Isbell, Cornal Hendricks and Cheslin Kolbe powered South Africa's 17-7 win against the USA and France recorded a 10-7 success against Portugal.

Wales beat Fiji 26-14 to claim the Plate while England's tournament ended at the hands of Samoa in the Bowl semi-finals with the Islanders going on to lose 26-14 to Australia in the final. Scotland bowed out in the semi-finals of the Shield, losing 21-14 to Zimbabwe who were beaten by Spain 33-0 in the final.
