Scotland have made five changes ahead of Saturday's match against France in Paris.

With Vern Cotter confirming his 31-man Rugby World Cup squad on Tuesday, he has opted to bring in Tommy Seymour and Sean Maitland into the back three with Matt Scott partnering Mark Bennett in the centres. Richie Gray and John Hardie start in the pack.

Scotland will head into the match off the back of a commanding win over Italy last weekend and Cotter is looking for continued improvement.

"We were pleased with a number of aspects of our performance against Italy but feel we still have a lot of work to get through before we begin the Rugby World Cup," Cotter said. "France are a very powerful and skilful side so this match will provide another good assessment for this group, and another valuable insight into where we are at as a squad."

Scotland: Sean Maitland, Tommy Seymour, Mark Bennett, Matt Scott, Tim Visser, Finn Russell, Greig Laidlaw (captain); Alasdair Dickinson, Ross Ford, WP Nel, Richie Gray, Jonny Gray, Ryan Wilson, John Hardie, Dave Denton

Replacements: Fraser Brown, Gordon Reid, Jon Welsh, Tim Swinson, Alasdair Strokosch, Sam Hidalgo-Clyne, Duncan Weir, Sean Lamont
