Simon Amor's England will come up against a familiar face in the quarter-finals of the Gold Coast leg of the HSBC Sevens World Series after drawing Ben Ryan's Fiji.

Ryan enjoyed seven years in charge of England but stood down in the summer paving the way for former IRB Sevens World Player of the Year Amor to take charge.

And Ryan will come up against his old side after England enjoyed their best start to the Gold Coast Sevens in three years. They beat Spain 54-7 with Dan Bibby getting a hat-trick while Dan Norton struck twice as they overcame France 26-12. But they came undone in the third game falling 22-14 to South Africa.

Ryan's Fiji were far from their swaggering best on Saturday but still managed to top their pool despite being defeated by Wales in their final game. Wales' 22-19 win ensured they went through to the quarter-finals at Canada's expense and they'll face South Africa for a semi-final spot.
