Gavin Henson will miss Bristol's Championship play-off final second leg against Worcester on Wednesday after it was confirmed he has suffered a fractured shin.

Bristol director of rugby Andy Robinson initially said Henson had broken his foot during the second-half of the 29-28 first-leg defeat at Ashton Gate.

Henson had impressed for Bristol before going down in open play, and was treated on the field for several minutes before being carried off on a stretcher with Sky Sports opting not to show a replay of the incident in which he damaged his lower leg.

Flanker Ryan Jones is also out of the Sixways return after picking up a shoulder injury.

"Ryan has a shoulder injury and will be out for next week - and Gavin has fractured his shin, so he will obviously be out as well," said Robinson.

"We know what we have to do - and a lot of players have played and done well this year, and we are looking forward to the next game.

"We knew that, at the end of this game, there would be a second half to play at Sixways - and we're looking forward to that battle. The side that can dust themselves down, and tweak and change a few things, is the side that's going to go up.

"We're confident about playing away from home and we're looking forward to going to Sixways."
