Cockerill confirms Twelvetrees exit

Leicester boss Richard Cockerill has confirmed that centre Billy Twelvetrees will leave the club for Gloucester at the end of the season.

The England Saxons international will make the switch in order to garner more first-team action at his preferred position of inside-centre.

So far this season he has flitted between numbers 10 and 12 due to injuries and the form of Anthony Allen, the two-cap England centre. At Gloucester he will likely fill a hole left by Mike Tindall or Eliota Fuimaono-Sapolu, with both players' futures uncertain.

Twelvetrees' contract with the Tigers is up at the end of the season and Cockerill has admitted that the prized youngster is on his way out of Welford Road - for greater riches as well as game-time.

"On Monday he told me he was staying, on Wednesday I was told by his agent that he was signing for Gloucester, who have assured him of being first choice No.12 for them and his salary has been much improved," the coach said.

"I did not want to lose him and he will be fully involved until the end of the season."
