Richie Gray is struggling to be fit for Scotland's autumn international series that begins against New Zealand at Murrayfield on Sunday, November 11.

The second row pulled out of Sale's win against London Irish on Friday night with an ankle injury. After tackling the world champion All Blacks, Scotland face South Africa on November 17 and Tonga on November 24 and the hope is that he will feature in the second two fixtures.

"He's probably out for another week or two," Sale chief executive Steve Diamond told BBC Sport. "Hopefully he'll play some part for Scotland, but it looks like he's out for next week."

Scotland coach Andy Robinson is already without a number of leading players for the November Test matches. Forwards Alasdair Dickinson, Ed Kalman and Moray Low will be absent from the series, as will backs Chris Cusiter, Joe Ansbro, Rory Lamont, Graeme Morrison and Nikki Walker.
