David Marty is a robust and direct centre who plays for Perpignan and France.
Marty began playing for Perpignan in 2001 and made his debut for France during the 2005 Six Nations, scoring two tries against Italy. His strong running and simple distribution made him a regular in the Perpignan midfield and French squad.
Despite tough competition from among others Yannick Jauzion and Damien Traille, Marty continued to maintain his presence in the French set up, including featuring in all six of France's matches at the 2007 World Cup.
He was a regular in the France side during the next couple of years which culminated in appearing in all five of their games during the 2010 Six Nations Grand Slam win. However, he was largely used to make an impact from the bench as he started just one of their five games.
However, Marty remains an important part of Marc Lievremont's plans and the centre will go to the 2011 World Cup having been named in the final 30-man squad.
