Munster back-row Peter O'Mahony will sit out their Heineken Cup clash with the Scarlets on Sunday.

The 22-year-old sustained a hairline crack to his jaw in the first-half of last Saturday's clash with the Scarlets at Parc Y Scarlets which resulted in a 17-14 triumph for the Irish side. O'Mahony was replaced at half-time by Denis Leamy with a scan revealing he is set for two weeks on the sidelines.

O'Mahony has been experiencing a rich vein of form for the Celtic League champions having made his European debut against Northampton Saints in the first round of the Heineken Cup and collecting the man of the match award. And he followed that performance with a try against Castres a week later. Munster hope he should be fit for the fifth and sixth rounds of the tournament.

Munster back Keith Earls, however, is expected to be fit for Sunday's clash and is pushing for a place in the matchday squad.
