Wales and Scarlets hooker Matthew Rees is set to be available for upcoming Heineken Cup and Six Nations fixtures after being cleared of a dangerous tackle on Ryan Jones.

Rees and fellow Scarlets front-rower Rhodri Jones were cited for a tackle on the former Wales captain during the Boxing Day clash with the Ospreys in Llanelli. But the cases were dismissed by a disciplinary hearing in Dublin on Wednesday.

An independent RaboDirect PRO12 committee chaired by David Martin (Ireland) and also comprising Philip Orr and George Spotswood, heard evidence from the two players as well as considering video evidence and statements from Jones and referee Nigel Owens and his two assistants.

Both players are free to play in Saturday's Pro12 clash with Glasgow and the Heineken Cup matches against Northampton Saints and Castres. Rees also looks set to take a prominent role in Wales' Six Nations campaign, which begins against Ireland on February 5.
