Toby Flood has been ruled out of the Aviva Premiership final due to injury, with Billy Twelvetrees stepping up to fill the void on the Leicester Tigers bench.

The England fly-half had been a doubt for the clash with Harlequins due to an ankle injury, initially being named among the replacements behind starlet George Ford, but he was forced to withdraw on the morning of the game with a slight groin strain.

Tigers boss Richard Cockerill confirmed the decision prior to kick-off, but dismissed further fears over Flood's troublesome ankle knock.

"The ankle problem is really good, he's got a slight groin strain from kicking and trying to get himself right," he said. "He's worked really hard to try and get himself fit. He came and kicked here [Twickenham] yesterday and was a bit sore and tight and he wasn't confident, so I made the call this morning that he wasn't going to play."
