England's Tom Palmer looks certain to miss the Six Nations after his club side Wasps announced that he is set for eight weeks on the sidelines.

Palmer, who last played for England in November against the Wallabies, lost his place in England's elite player squad when the re-vamped selection was unveiled in January. In his place, his Wasps team-mate Joe Launchbury has been given the nod while Northampton's Calum Clark has also been included.

During the Six Nations there is usually some movement between the EPS and the Saxons due to injuries and suspensions, but it looks like Palmer will miss out on the action altogether, including the Saxons' two matches. He has been struggling with a calf injury and after seeing a consultant on Monday, Wasps have confirmed that he will be out of action for around two months.

With Clark nursing an injury, Botha is training with the EPS this week while the Saxons are focused on Friday's clash with the Irish Wolfhounds in Galway.

Wasps have also revealed that USA international Paul Emerick is set to miss the rest of the season with a leg injury while long-term absentees James Bailey and Lee Thomas are continuing their rehabilitation.
