Harlequins and England fullback Mike Brown was crowned Aviva Premiership Player of the Season on Thursday evening. Brown has had a fantastic season for club and country and will play a key role for Quins in their Premiership semi-final on Saturday. The feat sees Brown add the prestigious award to his personal haul of silverware having already picked up the Player of the Six Nations gong for his role in the championship earlier this year.

Brown saw off Leicester's Niki Goneva, Saracens' Jacques Burger, Sale's Dan Braid, Northampton's Samu Manoa and Worcester's Chris Pennell and his Harlequins coach Conor O'Shea paid tribute to him, saying: "It's a thoroughly deserved award. Both for club and country this season Mike has been a model of consistency, and also a match winner. "He's a game breaker that changes the course of a match - no-one else has done it on a consistent level in the northern hemisphere this year, but him." The Land Rover Discovery of the Year award was given to Saracens and England No.8 Billy Vunipola after a season which has seen him impress on both the domestic and international stage. Bath's George Ford was another front-runner for the award while Gloucester's Elliott Stooke, Bath's Anthony Watson, Leicester's Owen Williams and Northampton's Jamie Elliott were also nominated. The coach of the season was Saracens' Mark McCall with his team still in with a shout of a hugely impressive double as they face Quins on Saturday in the semi-final of the Premiership and then Toulon in the Heineken Cup final next weekend. Try of the Season went to Northampton's Elliot for his effort against Gloucester back in round three of the campaign. © ESPN Sports Media Ltd
