Mike Phillips will play in the Aviva Premiership next season after signing a deal with Sale.

The 33-year-old former Wales scrum-half has played for Llanelli, Cardiff, Ospreys, Bayonne and his current club Racing 92.

He is likely to feature for the Paris side in next week's European Champions Cup final but will then head to England and the Sharks.

"Mike will fit perfectly into our plans here at Sale Sharks," said direction of rugby Steve Diamond. "He is a big, powerful and very skillful player and has plenty of experience playing at the top level of the game.

"Mike will be one of three former Racing 92 players at the club next season alongside Brian Mujati and Juandre Kruger."

Phillips won 94 caps for Wales during his international career and added another five for the British and Irish Lions on the tours of 2009 and 2013.
