England are expected to have both Danny Care and Tom Wood available for training next week ahead of the Six Nations.

Care limped off during Harlequins' loss to Clermont Auvergne on Saturday while Wood picked up a knee injury against Ospreys while playing for Northampton. Stuart Lancaster is already counting the cost of a number of injuries but both Wood and Care should be fit for England training next week.

Both Harlequins and Northampton have one more match left in the Heineken Cup and Wood is expected to be fit to face Castres on Friday evening but admitted he was concerned when the injury first occurred.

"I was thinking 'Blimey, it won't work'," Wood told the Telegraph. "There was a moment or two of concern. The muscles had switched off but I wasn't falling over so the ligaments were there.

"There was some inflammation but it has settled. I was a bit lame for a while. They tested all the ligaments and bent it every which way. There was plenty of discomfort but plenty of tension there.

"I felt better today and had a run. As long as I don't have any major reaction to that I think I will be fine."
