Wales sweat on Warburton injury

Cardiff Blues coach Phil Davies would not be drawn on whether Sam Warburton would be fit for Wales' Six Nations opener against Italy on February 1 sparking fears the Welsh skipper may miss some of the forthcoming championship.

Warburton is currently recovering from nerve damage in his shoulder and visited a specialist in London on Tuesday in an attempt to speed-up his recovery. Warburton will miss Cardiff Blues' final Heineken Cup clash against Exeter on Saturday and Davies admitted he was unsure if the flanker was going to be fit for the Blues' LV=Cup match on January 25.

When asked about whether Warburton would be fit for the Six Nations, Davies told Wales Online: "It depends on how he responds to the treatment."

Warburton was included in Wales' 32-man squad for the Six Nations when it was confirmed on Tuesday but Davies is reluctant to put a timeframe on when he will be fit for action.

"Sam had an injection last Saturday and the shoulder has settled well but he is seeing a specialist in London," Davies added. "He is improving all the time and is being assessed to see where he is. He is not available this weekend, but could be back in a week or two."
