Warren Gatland has been dealt another injury setback with the news Ryan Jones is likely to be unavailable for Wales' opening two Six Nations matches with a hamstring injury.

Jones went off during his side's Heineken Cup defeat to Leinster on Friday night, and Wales Online is reporting the club's medics have ruled him out for the encounters against Italy and Ireland. The 32-year-old has left the squad camp for the time being.

With a question-mark over the fitness of Sam Warburton and Dan Lydiate not in good club form for Racing Metro it is possible Jones would have featured heavily in Gatland's plans. He joins Jonathan Davies, Gethin Jenkins and Jamie Roberts as an injury concern for the side chasing a historic third consecutive crown.

The Ospreys man - who has been linked with a move to Bristol in recent days - stood in as captain in Warburton's stead last season. Gatland is also awaiting news on Jones' Ospreys team-mate Ian Evans, who was sent off in Dublin for stamping and could be set for a lengthy ban.
