Rugby supporter dies after Calcutta Cup Test

A rugby supporter has died after falling ill at Saturday's Calcutta Cup clash at Murrayfield.

The 60-year-old man was watching with a group of friends when he was taken ill during the match at Murrayfield in Edinburgh. He was treated by paramedics and taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary but died a short time later.

Scottish Rugby Union president Donald Macleod said: "We are extremely saddened to hear of the death of a supporter who attended today's Calcutta Cup match.

"We extend our deepest sympathy to the gentleman's family and friends and we are standing by to support in any way we can."

RFU president Bob Reeves added: "The rugby family has lost one of its members and on behalf of all the travelling England fans and the RFU we extend our condolences to the gentleman's relations and all those who knew him."
