Robshaw: 'Next year is going to be our year'

England skipper Chris Robshaw has revealed his team have made a pact that "next year is going to be our year".

England finished in second place in the Six Nations for the third year running and Robshaw admitted it was a "gutting experience" seeing Ireland beat France in Paris. But with a summer tour to New Zealand on the horizon and just 18 months until the start of the 2015 World Cup, Robshaw has emphasised the need to use those frustrations in a positive manner.

And in his column for the Telegraph, Robshaw has turned his sights to winning silverware next term.

"We made a vow to each other in Rome on Saturday that next year is going to be our year. We are judged on silverware and whilst it was special to win the Triple Crown this season we desperately want to take the next step in 2015 and win the Six Nations Championship. Then our sights will be set on the World Cup.

"While it is hugely frustrating to have finished on eight points and in second place for a third successive season, what gives me heart is that although we have not improved on our final position, I feel as a team we have come on leaps and bounds."

Robshaw admitted it was the "15-minute spell against France that ultimately cost us a Grand Slam" and praised Luther Burrell, Jonny May and Jack Nowell for the impact they made on the team in what was their first championship.
