Wales have called Scarlets hooker Ken Owens into their Six Nations squad.

Owens, who has won 26 caps, met up with the squad at their training base on Monday. Owens missed the autumn internationals because of a neck injury and has been in excellent form since returning in January.

Wales continue their Six Nations campaign next Saturday when they host unbeaten title favourites Ireland.

Uncapped Exeter prop Tomas Francis, meanwhile, is to train with the Wales squad.

Francis, 22, was born in York, but is qualified to play for Wales. He has impressed for Aviva Premiership play-off contenders Exeter this season.

He previously played for Championship clubs Doncaster and London Scottish.

Shaun Edwards, the Wales defence coach, said: "Ken is very experienced and has been involved in two Six Nations Championships. He has not been brought in to replace anyone.

"Francis is a big kid, he's been going well with Exeter so we've brought him in. He is big, young and is coming from a great environment. They pride themselves on hard work and we think we have a similar environment."
